Remember the joy of calling your best friend from the kitchen wall phone? The long cord, the secret plans, the “You hang up first” wars? We’re bringing that feeling back — but made for kids today.

Tin Can is a screen-free phone that gives kids the freedom to call their friends, plan their playdates, and grow their independence — all without a glowing rectangle in their pocket.

Now, we want to see what happens when everyone in a class or group has one.

That’s right — we're running a first-of-its-kind experiment: give every kid in a community a Tin Can, for free. No screens. No texts. Just real conversations, the way they were meant to be.

Why We're Doing This:

Too often, the social lives of kids today are mediated by adult devices. If one or two kids have Tin Cans, it’s great — but what if every kid did? What happens to friendship? To confidence? To independence?

We want to find out. And we want your school to be part of it.

How It Works:

  1. Apply below — schools, PTAs, or community groups can nominate their class or group.
  2. We’ll review and select a few classes or groups to talk with and learn more about.
  3. We'll select one to participate in the full Tin Can rollout (yes, for free).
  4. You get everything you need — Tin Cans, setup support, even conversation-starter guides.
  5. We all learn together — and maybe, just maybe, spark a movement.
