Here's how it works:

  • No phone jack required. All you need is a power outlet, internet, and WiFi or a wired connection to your router.

  • Access denied (to strangers). By default, Tin Cans are walled off from all normal phone numbers. So your kid can call their friends with Tin Cans, and still be safe from spammers and strangers.

  • Access granted (to friends and family). If you subscribe to Premium, you can enable calls to/from specific external phone numbers that you define. There's even an option to enable 911. So your kid can talk with their friends, your cell, or grandma—but nobody else can reach them.

  • Taking the smart out of smartphone. Tin Can is a secure landline with parental controls — and nothing more.

  • Devices start at a one-time payment of $35, plans start $6.99/month. The Tin Can + WiFi module device costs $60. The Premium plan, which includes the ability to call external numbers you choose, is $9.99/month.

What's a "Tin Can"?

The Tin Can is a small device that turns any analog phone into an internet enabled device connected to our proprietary Tin Can Network.

How does it work?

Connect it to your WiFi or wired network and plug a good 'ol landline handset into the Tin Can. If you don't have a spare landline handset lying around, no sweat, we'll provide one for free.Each Tin Can has its own extension number, so all your kid will need to do in order to talk with a friend is dial their Tin Can Number.

What's required to setup my Tin Can?

Internet and a standard outlet, that's it! The Tin Can kit comes with everything you need, including an analog phone, to start making calls and typically takes people less than five minutes to setup

How much does it cost?

The device costs $35 for Tin Can Classic, and $60 for Tin Can with WiFi. Both come with everything you need to start making calls, including an analog phone. They also come with a 30-day no-questions return policy. The monthly cost for the line is $6.99 for unlimited calls within the Tin Can network or $9.99 if you also want the ability to call normal phone numbers.

Can my kid use their Tin Can to call a normal phone number? What about dialing 911?

Yes! But only specific whitelisted numbers that you define. You get the best of both worlds: your kid can call grandma from their Tin Can, but they're still inaccessible to the rest of the phone network.We also have 911 functionality as an optional feature.

How old are the kids that use Tin Can?

We have kids as young as 4 and as old as 12 making regular calls to friends and family on their Tin Can!

What kind of parental controls do I have?

Coming Soon Parental Controls via the Companion App:

Is it secure?

Security is one of the main reasons why we built the Tin Can. They operate on a fully private network, so there's no publicly-accessible phone number that scammers and other strangers can call. Each device is connected to our network using an encrypted VPN connection. The parent companion app (coming soon) will give the ability to approve each contact that your kid is allowed to speak with, and control the hours during which the phone operates or is shut down.So, in short: yes, we think it's secure. Our own kids use it!

Tin Can Fulfillment and Cancellation Policy

Effective Date: October 22, 2024At Tin Can, we strive to provide a great experience for our customers. Please review our fulfillment policies below:1. Hardware Returns:
You may return your Tin Can device for any reason within 30 days of purchase for a full refund. The product must be in its original condition and packaging. Customers are responsible for the shipping costs associated with returning the product. Once the return is received and inspected, refunds will be issued to the original payment method within 7-10 business days.
2. Defective Hardware Replacement:
If your Tin Can device is defective, you may return it to us for a replacement within 60 days of purchase. We will send a new device upon receiving and inspecting the defective one. Please note that customers are responsible for the shipping costs associated with returning the defective hardware.
3. Shipping Information:
As of October 22, 2024, Tin Can ships only within Washington state via Ground Service delivery. Shipping fees are calculated based on the delivery method, destination, weight, and dimensions of the package. All shipping fees will be clearly presented before checkout when ordering online.
4. Software Subscription Cancellation:
Customers may cancel their monthly software subscription at any time via their customer billing portal or by reaching out to [email protected]. After cancellation, access to the Tin Can network will continue until the end of the current billing cycle. Please note that there are no refunds for software subscription purchases.
5. Dispute Resolution:
If you encounter any issues with your product or service, please contact our customer service team at [email protected]. We aim to resolve concerns as quickly as possible, and we appreciate the opportunity to make things right.

Tin Can Referral Program Terms and Conditions

Effective as of Nov 13, 2024.

1. Eligibility: This Referral Program is open to active Tin Can customers with a valid Tin Can Line subscription. Participants must have a unique referral code provided by Tin Can.

2. Referral Rewards: For each new customer who purchases Tin Can hardware using your unique referral code, you will earn a credit for one (1) free month of your Tin Can Line subscription, as will the new customer who purchased using your referral code. This credit will be applied to the next applicable billing cycle.

3. Reward Conditions: The referred customer must complete the purchase and activate a Tin Can Line subscription associated with their device. Canceled purchases or subscriptions that are not activated will not qualify as valid referrals.

4. Revocation of Credits: Tin Can reserves the right to revoke referral credits if:
* We detect fraudulent, abusive, or other nefarious activity related to the referral program.
* We observe a pattern where referred buyers cancel their subscriptions or fail to activate them within three (3) months of purchase.

5. Referral Code Usage: Referral codes must only be shared for personal and non-commercial purposes.

6. Non-Transferability of Credits: Referral credits are non-transferable, non-refundable, and cannot be exchanged for cash or other rewards.

7. Termination of Suspicious Accounts: Tin Can reserves the right to suspend or terminate the accounts of participants found to be engaging in behavior that Tin Can deems inconsistent with the intent of the program.

8. No Employment or Agency Relationship: Participation in the referral program does not establish any agency, partnership, or employment relationship between the participant and Tin Can. Participants have no authority to bind or make commitments on behalf of Tin Can.

9. Disqualification: Tin Can reserves the right to disqualify participants who violate these terms or Tin Can’s general Terms of Service, or who use any form of manipulation, fraud, or unfair means to participate in the program.
